To an outsider, the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes may be confusing. They are both similar disease that require insulin in order to manage the diabetes and have a properly functioning body. But where it gets confusing is the reason why the two different types of diabetics need the insulin and which one has different treatment options.
Vegetarian Diet Lowers Diabetes Risk Among African-Americans
A interesting Fact:
In the study, led by Serena Tonstad, African-American participants who followed a vegetarian diet and exercised at least three times a week significantly reduced the risk of diabetes. Vegan African-Americans had a 70% reduced risk of diabetes, while lacto-ovo African-American vegetarians, had a 53% reduced risk of diabetes. In addition, African-American participants who exercised three or more times a week had 35% less chance of diabetes. The findings used prospective data of 7,172 black Seventh-Day Adventists participating in Adventist Health Study-2.
