How Much Water Should I Drink Per Day?
Drinking water is vital to health and well-being. We have all heard that we should drink at least 8 glasses of water every day but where in the world does that number come from? Is it one of those old wives tales that has simply established itself into contemporary society or is their actual scientific data to support it? The typical individual can lose nearly 3 litres of liquid every day through sweating, waste removal, and air that gets exhaled. On a day-to-day basis, that is over 8 cups of fluid. To avoid dehydration it should be common sense that we need to drink at least that much water. Food will be responsible for about 20% of our water intake if we eat a healthy diet that includes veggies and fruit. The rest must come from water consumption. So the advice of eight glasses of water each day is a very good target.
